Derek grew up around an abusive family, his mother, was murdered, and his father beat him daily, to protect himself, he had two imaginary friends, named Joe, and Haz, Joe was cool and collected, and helped Derek keep calm, and happy, where as Haz was used to shield Derek from his beatings, and was tough, and violent. As the years progressed, Derek started gaining mannerisms similar to his imaginary friends, and sometimes had violent outbursts, none of which led to any deaths though. Even in school he was a loner, everybody was too afraid of him to speak to him, he even frightened the teachers, and they dared not send him to the office, for fear of him exploding. It became clear to him, his only friends in life where to be his imaginary friends, and he used to talk to himself very often. Eventually, he managed a relationship, but the constant bickering and verbal abuse left him to murder his girlfriend, he was charged with first degree murder, and five years in prison. The government could not have been more wrong, as the five years in prison, three of which were spent in “the hole†a dark, damp place with no light, and no other outside contact, left his mind shattered. After he got out of prison, he became schizophrenic, gaining personalities similar to his imaginary friends, and naming them as such, he can become very dangerous when his mind is set on Haz, and has killed many people as such, Joe however is a different story, he usually goes out of his way to help other people and defend their rights with a firm hand. Derek himself is a nervous wreck, and constantly exclaims the troubles in his head, Most of the time, his personality changes can be triggered, Haz is triggered by a moment of anxiety, fear, anger, or downright blood lust, Joe is random, and may show himself at any time, Derek is around most of the time, and takes calming drugs in hopes to help his mind, he may take himself to a therapist later on, but right now, he just walks the streets, and dangers others.
